What Does It Mean to Brand Your Business?

You are smart, powerful and motivated. You are excited and you know your business is going to thrive! You also know that you’re supposed to brand your business… However, you may be wondering what that entails…

You’ve got the perfect name. You’ve created a logo, which you know is awesome and you’re proud of it! But… Is that enough? Is that branding?

While choosing a name and logo are parts of your brand, they’re not the only elements of your brand. They are representations of your brand and a crucial step, so rock on with your awesome name and logo and let’s keep going!

So… what comes next? Many people get stuck after creating a business name and a logo and don’t know what else they should be doing. Once you have a solid understanding of the concept, you’ll be in a better position to create a brand you’re proud of and you’ll have the confidence to communicate it effectively.

What is branding?

Branding is the process of creating a unique name, message, and image in a consumer’s mind. The goal is to differentiate yourself from others in your market and to attract and retain your ideal customers. This is how you showcase your awesomeness and help the right people connect with you.

Branding is no small task, it’s an in-depth and ongoing process. You not only have to create a “brand” but you also must have a plan to communicate it effectively…

There are many elements that go into branding and many ways to communicate your brand.

Here are some ways that you can infuse your unique brand:

  • Create a unique and memorable logo
  • Develop your brand personality, aka the “voice” you use, in your content and marketing pieces
  • Choose consistent website colors, headers, and layouts
  • Share your mission
  • Cultivate an effective marketing message
  • Opt for images that are consistent with your brand and enrich your content and marketing materials

Your brand is communicated through every single action your business takes. It’s communicated on your website, in your content, in marketing materials, in social media posts and with any interaction you have with a prospect or customer. Don’t forget though, branding is communicated both online and off… Nonetheless, branding is you! It’s the story of your business and you get to write that brand story…

As you can see, your brand is an essential element of how to successfully market your business. Look for my next blog where we’ll look at how you can determine your brand and two questions you want to ask and answer during the process.
