I’d like for you to take a moment and think about the businesses that you purchase from. If you’re like me, you buy from businesses that you like and you trust. You probably consider the people you do business with to be credible experts in their fields and you probably purchase from them because you care about them. The same rings true for your audience.
Your brand is so important for many different reasons, but probably the most important is that it builds the like and trust factors. Your brand is what communicates to your audience that you are trustworthy and it sets the foundation for a good client relationship. This is why creating a brand purposefully should be such a critical part of your marketing strategy and plan.
Without having a defined brand in place, your audience may get confused on what your message is and why it matters. The following questions will help you to create and define your brand.
The first question you should ask yourself is: What does my business do?
How do I do this better than anyone else? You’ll want to make sure you’re clear on the product or service your business offers and why you’re the best business for the product or service you offer. You’ll need to get specific as to how you’re better than your competitors and what makes you different.
Next, you’ll want to ask yourself: What images and words do I want my audience to think about when they think of my business?
Create a list of the words and emotions you want people to associate with your business. Be sure to add to that list the characteristics of your business and how those characteristics tie into your story.
Lastly, you need to ask yourself: What are the perks of doing business with you?
In order to answer this, you may want to think of the following questions: Why should a prospective client want to do business with you? How can they benefit from doing business with you? What sets you apart from your competitors?
Once you have the answers to all of these questions, narrow them down to one concept. Think about how you can communicate that concept purposefully to your audience in a way that will connect them with you. Congrats!! You have defined your brand!
Remember that consistency is essential. Now that you have defined your brand, itโs important to project it into every aspect of your business. This is how you will create a memorable brand.
